Rick Thompson and his companies have developed in excess of 6,000 single family homes and home-sites throughout Florida. He has owned multi-family, commercial, office, and hospitality properties, and is currently subdividing his 3,000 acre coastal Florida tract comprised of 40 islands and four miles of Gulf of Mexico frontage. Thompson companies provide private equity and debt financing for all manner of real estate ventures as well as small to mid-market Florida companies in non-real estate fields.
His entrepreneurial career began during and immediately following law school, when he was an acquisitions and mergers specialist for two public conglomerates, assisted in completing 22 IPO's, and made his first real estate investment. He has been involved in real estate ever since.
Mr. Thompson holds a BA degree in economics and political science from Emory University and a JD degree from University of Florida, with further graduate studies at Exeter University, England and the Instituto Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Mexico.
He co-chairs The C. Frederick and Aase B. Thompson Foundation, a non-profit actively involved in the arts. Rick and Aase's board memberships include: University of Florida National Arts Council, UF International Center, current chair, UF Natural History Museum, UF Center for the Performing Arts, and the YMCA (NF71); past president/chair. Other affiliations include: Society of International Business Fellows, Fellow; Explorers Club; UF President's Council, and the Committee on Foreign Relations.
